The Harlem Shake dance is an Internet meme, it is a concept that spreads from person to person via the internet that went viral on YouTube in early February 2013. The meme was established in a video uploaded on Feb 2 by five teenagers from Queensland, Australia. The teenager's video, in its turn, was a follow-up to a video by a YouTube comedy vlogger named fifty frank featuring a part where several costumed people danced to the song "Harlem Shake"

The success of the video was in the part attributed to the anticipation of the breakout moment and short length, making them very accessible to watch.

The Harlem Shake is  technically very easy for fans to reproduce, as it consists of a single locked camera shot and one jump cut. In spite of that the simplicity of this concept allows fans considerable  scope in creating their own distinctive variants and making their mark, while retaining the basic elements. 

"Harlem Shake" YouTube Viral Spreads  

On February 10, the upload rate of Harlem Shake videos reached 4,000 per day. As a February 11, about 12,000 versions of the  popular internet dance, pranks, meme videos uploaded by YouTube.
Over 44 million unique views on YouTube on 15 February.
And Now about 40,000+ Harlem Shake videos had been uploaded on YouTube with total 175 million views.
